Star Gazing: Galaxy S2 Comes Into View On May 1

Samsung has finally confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S II will be dropping from the skies (not literally, that’s quite dangerous) on 1 May, causing fans of A4-sized phones across this sceptred isle to do a little dance. Possibly.

The souped-up dual-core variant of Samsung’s uber-sucessfull Galaxy handset first showed up at the Mobile World Conga thing in Barcelona earlier this year, and it’s fair to say that the device got more than a few people a little hot and bothered.

Since then though, the thing went all stealth on us and nobody heard a peep until just now, when the Korean manufacturer shoved out a press release saying that Blighty will be getting a piece of the action in less than three weeks. Whoo!

As well as letting us in on when we’ll be able to get our grubby little mitts on it, Samuel L Sung also prodded some impressive specs our way. Specs that included a meaty 1.2GHz dual-core processor, hefty Super AMOLED Plus 4.3in display, as well as some of that TouchWiz UI business they like to shove in to their blowers. Nice.

From what Samsung reckon, the S2 certainly looks like a top blower, but then again they would say that wouldn’t they? Well, if you’re a bit of a cynic, you’re in luck as we’ll be casting a critical eye over it before the week’s out.
